El twist es un baile muy popular que aparecio a principios de la década de los 60,basado en el rock and roll se caracteriza por un energico giro de la cadera y de los pies , se podia bailar sin pareja y con pareja se caracetrizaba porque se bailaba sin tocarse ,aceptado para la época como un baile sensual y moralmente aceptable . Es un genero musical derivado del jazz, gospel y el blues y mas conocido como "musica negra norteamericana".Fue en la decada de los 50 donde se desarrolló principalmente. Para representar este Género musical he elegido a un grupo muy conocido "The platters", grupo musical formado en el año 1953 y compuesto por cuatro hombres y una mujer y la cancion "Only you" una de mis favoritas.
